You may have noticed that your nails appear stronger and your hair grows faster during pregnancy. Thank those extra hormones which help in growing faster and stronger. But this won’t last long after the delivery.

How big is the baby in the 6th month of pregnancy? Your baby will be around 25.6cm long and weighs around 300 grams. And your baby will be the size of an ear of corn and would be growing fast. Eyebrows and eyelashes usually develop in the 6th month of pregnancy.

Before your baby arrives, you are responsible for helping them grow in a healthy environment.

Here is a list of pregnancy dos and don’ts to help you understand what you should and shouldn’t be concerned about.

Do’s of Sixth Month of Pregnancy

  1. Do take multivitamins – A healthy diet alone may not be enough for an expectant mother. Being pregnant requires a balanced diet that provides you with an adequate amount of vitamins and minerals.
Prenatal vitamins, such as folic acid, calcium, and iron, help ensure you get the nutrients you require for a healthy pregnancy.
  2. Get enough sleep – Hormonal changes and anxiety can make sleep difficult during pregnancy. Try to set bedtime and wake-up time. Aim for 7–9 hours of sleep to get enough rest for your body.
  3. Do prenatal checkups – Your doctor suggests regular checkups for a healthy pregnancy. You may require tests such as ultrasounds to monitor the baby’s growth and amniotic fluid. Make sure to stick to the schedule that your doctor recommends.
  4. Do workouts – Regular exercises like yoga and brisk walking can help you gain an appropriate amount of weight and prepare you for the rigors of labor.
  5. Do moisturize – To avoid stretch marks, frequently moisturize, as it will reduce itchiness and soothe your dry skin. Moisturizers help to decrease the itching.

Don’t on 6th Month

  1. Don’t smoke – Babies born to those women who smoke are more likely to have a lower birth weight and are at higher risk for learning disabilities than infants born to women who won’t smoke.
  2. Don’t drink alcohol – Alcohol may affect a baby’s development. Mothers who drink alcohol during pregnancy are likelier to deliver a baby with fetal alcohol syndrome (FAS).
  3. Don’t drink too much caffeine – High caffeine intake during pregnancy may increase your fetal heart rate. It can also affect a mother’s blood pressure.

However, research suggests that mothers can safely consume a cup of coffee every day.
