Ten weeks pregnant, the baby will get verifiable fingers and toes. The eyes of the baby will be closed until you reach the end of the second trimester.
This week, you will notice a rapid development in the skeleton bones. Pregnancy week 10 is considered the end of the embryonic period, and the embryo gets a human-like appearance.
The Baby’s spine will become visible and spinal nerves will spread and start functioning this week. The baby’s length will start growing fast from this week onwards.
What care should be taken by a 10 weeks pregnant woman?
- Consider regular health checkups because any problem during pregnancy may cause severe damage to the baby.
- Along with regular checks, schedule a dental appointment as pregnancy from this week may increase the risk of developing pregnancy gingivitis.
- Take adequate prenatal vitamins regularly, such as vitamins B, C, and vitamin D and calcium, as well as proteins for your healthy gums and teeth.
- Wear comfortable and loose clothes. Wearing a good supportive bra is very important to reduce breast tenderness.
- This is the week to observe your baby’s movements. Expect them and rejoice while feeling them. Pregnant women will describe those moments as very emotional, particularly for first-time mothers.
During this week, it is completely normal to feel tired. When you feel exhausted, take a break from work and give time to relax. Taking afternoon naps will help to decrease the discomfort in your pregnancy.
Fainting and dizziness are the most common symptoms during the first trimester, and they sometimes continue throughout pregnancy. So, take care of yourself from falling as it will damage the baby inside you.
The period between pregnancy weeks 10-13 is the time for a chorionic villus sampling test. When you are 10 weeks pregnant and have almost reached the end, you can consider having this test. But make sure that the clinic you choose for the test should be a reputable organization with a good record.
Avoid exposure to environmental hazards, second-hand smoke, and the consumption of alcohol. Try to include more relaxing activities in your daily schedule. Being relaxed is very much essential for the healthy growth of your baby.
