Almost all the women experience infection at some point in their life. Unfortunately, pregnancy doesn’t exempt you from getting infections like urinary tract infection, yeast infection, sexually transmitted infections, genital herpes, chicken pox, toxoplasmosis, etc.

Urinary tract infection

About 10% of expecting mothers will get this condition. Some may experience symptoms, whereas some others may not experience any kind of symptoms. This kind of pregnant infection symptoms can range from:

  • Bloody urine
  • Pain or burning sensation while passing the urine
  • Urinary urgency, which means a quick and sudden urge to urinate
  • Cloudy or foul-smelling urine
  • Pain in the pubic bone area

Yeast infection

Imbalance in the yeast and acid levels in the vagina can lead to yeast infection during pregnancy. The symptoms of yeast infection during pregnancy may range from:

  • Pain during sexual intercourse
  • Painful urination
  • Redness and swelling around the vaginal area
  • Foul-smelling discharge from the vagina
  • Severe itchiness around the vagina
  • Frequent bleeding from the vagina
  • Pain, aches, chills, and fever
  • Skin rash around the vaginal area
  • Loose stools, weight loss, and night sweats

Genital herpes

Having this kind of pregnant infection can transmit the disease to a newborn child and lead to serious health complications. Soon after contacting with herpes, you will experience small blisters around the genital area. These blisters itch and even become painful. Gradually they will break and turn into painful ulcers. This can cause pains, aches, fever, fatigue and vaginal discharge with a bad odor. About one in four pregnant women get infected with genital herpes.

Chickenpox

It is a most deadly infection when it occurs during pregnancy. If you had chickenpox during your childhood, you have no reason to worry about catching it when you are pregnant. When you are affected with this condition during pregnancy, it may cause serious abnormalities to your unborn babies, such as eye problems, scars, and shortened limbs. Also, there is a chance to develop neurological problems, which lead to bladder or bowel difficulties.

Toxoplasmosis

Most people with toxoplasmosis may not exhibit any symptoms, so it is difficult to recognize even you are infected with this condition. Baby’s risk of affecting this condition from the mother will depend on the pregnancy stage in which you are affected.
