What are the Causes of Period During Menopause

If you didn’t experience period for almost a year, it means that you have entered into menopause. In case you experience a little spotting after menopause, it can be a sign of a health problem and you should immediately consult your care provider. This could be caused by various health problems and among those, some are very serious.

Here are the several causes of the period during menopause:

Causes of Period During MenopausePolyps: These are the noncancerous growths that grow on the cervix, in the uterus, inside the cervical canal and can cause bleeding.

Endometrial atrophy: Endometrium is the tissue that lines the uterus will become thin after menopause due to the decreased estrogen levels. This condition may cause unexpected bleeding.

Endometrial cancer: Period during menopause can be a most common sign of endometrial cancer.

Endometrial hyperplasia: This condition causes thickening of the endometrium, which is the result of too much estrogen and too little progesterone resulting in bleeding during menopause. This condition is due to obesity and it can lead to abnormal cells resulting in endometrial cancer.

Hormone replacement therapy: During this, hormones are introduced into your body to fight with the effects of menopause or to normalize other hormonal imbalances. HRT may cause different effects on per and post-menopausal women. Experiencing any unexpected bleeding can be a concern and you should visit your care provider.

Weight loss: Unexpected weight loss can cause period during menopause. A component of estrogen is dependent on fat for its production. In case, if you notice any sudden or drastic weight loss, there is a disturbance in the relation between hormone levels and fat, which can result in a period like bleeding.
