Copper or hormonal intrauterine device can cause women to bleed during the first 9 months after insertion. Bleeding may be heavy or light.

Birth Control Pills

During the first few months on a pill, you may notice spotting sometimes. As your body adjusts to these synthetic hormones, it usually stops by 3rd to 9th month. Any spotting on the pill may not be a problem just yet.

How to deal with Spotting after your periods?

There are some things you need to monitor to prevent bleeding after your periods. Here are a few tips by which you can deal with abnormal spotting.

  • Take doctors advice and start taking birth control pills.
  • Check your PAP smears
  • Control the intake of aspirin
  • Maintain healthy weight
  • Change your birth control methods
  • Keep your stress under control
  • Record your menstruation cycle

When should you see your doctor?

It is a good idea to contact your doctor if you notice heavy vaginal bleeding between periods. Many women experience spotting at some point or other in their lives, some may have heavy and some may have light. But, if you have heavy spotting which continues more than a week, you should see your doctor immediately. Also, visit the hospital if have a sharp pain in the pelvis with bleeding.
