Women need to be prepared for these changes before they happen. There are things that she can do to prepare her body and her mind before she gets pregnant.
First, start eating healthy foods like fruits, vegetables, whole grains, and lean proteins like chicken or fish every day. This will help the mom-to-be maintain a healthy weight throughout her pregnancy which will help prevent health problems like gestational diabetes or high blood pressure later in the pregnancy. She should also take prenatal vitamins with folic acid for at least three months before getting pregnant and continue to take them during pregnancy until she’s told otherwise by her doctor.
